The Cooters Guestbook made temporarily unavailable…

The Cooters guestbook was turned off on April 12th, due to an unresolved legal matter with a New York-based corporate “punk” record label. We believe the company is spreading lies and rumors about us on their webpage and sending unwanted saboteurs to our website.

We aren’t going to mention their name on our site, but the corporate “punk” webpage is part of a conglomerate of dot bombs, that includes such failures as PunkVideos.com, EverythingPunk.com, FastMusicSports.com and over twenty other so called "punk" websites. They regularly post the latest news about what’s hot on MTV and ESPN, who’s who on the Vans Warped Tour, and all the latest gossip with major label mall-punk bands like New Found Glory, Weezer, MxPx and Green Day.

In between their self-indulgent ramblings, they disrespect real punks like Jello Biafra. The webpage recently launched a smear campaign against The Cooters, and is now spreading untrue rumors about us. We believe the New York City webpage has about as much street credibility as The Backstreet Boys or Milli Vanilli.

"Don't be duped by corporate punk"

The Cooters are a 100% Do-It-Yourself punk metal band from Mississippi, by choice. While some self-righteous suit and tie guys may condescendingly view us as “unsigned,” we choose to follow in the footsteps of real punk labels and bands such as Fugazi / Dischord, Crass, Alternative Tentacles, Rotten Records, and Profane Existence. We’ve been recording, touring and having a blast since 1993, and we’ve been doing it our way, on our own terms.

We may issue another statement later on, but legal issues are currently pending.
