The Cooters unveiled a new live sound recently in Oxford with the addition of guitarist Max Hipp, aka "Kin Cooter." Max formerly played with the Jackson, Mississippi metal band Kincain, but The Cooters' recent recordings whipped Max into a frenzy and he was soon assimilated into the band as Kin Cooter. The debut show was at Proud Larry's on November 19, 1998 opening for The Neckbones.
Kin Cooter takes the oath :
"The Cooters were formidable before, but now we are a heavy metal juggernaut. I am here to add skull-splitting guitar ferocity to the ever-strengthening Cooter World Order. All who oppose will bow down to the twin guitar attack of Raw and Kin. They will be crushed under the rhythmic thunder of Neuter and Judas. Glory to the Supreme Cooter!!!"

About the addition, bassist Neuter Cooter says:
"Playing with Kin is awesome! We've had a blast and and there is a new uniting spirit running amok in the family. It's amazing how naturally and easily Kin has fit into what The Cooters had already achieved as a three piece band. But our sound is fatt'r now, and our live show is rock hard! Kin writes some wicked heavy tunes and has a vocal style all his own."
