The Cooters to rock the Two Stick
with special guest Moon Pie Curtis
July 30, 2002

OXFORD, MISS. Oxford’s own three-piece Sherman tank of metal mayhem will roll through Two Stick, Thursday, August 1, leaving no ear unoffended. The Cooters run the gamut of rock and roll styles, playing everything from punk to metal and making pit stops at all points in between and beyond.

Drummer Judas Cooter and bassist Neuter Cooter supply the tightest, most hard-driving rhythm section in town, with Neuter and guitarist Raw Cooter sharing songwriting and lead vocal duties. Raw’s ungoverned molestation of his Les Paul rounds out The Cooters’ assault with perverse riffs and squawling leads. The result is bone-crushing power with melodic beauty intact.

“This will be a merciless performance,” says Raw Cooter. “We are pulling out all the stops. There will be no regard for human life!"

The opening act, Oxford-bred songwriter Moon Pie Curtis will deliver his first live set since returning from a two-year hiatus in South Carolina. “I hope my acoustic stuff will be a nice opener before the Marshalls blast,” says Curtis. “It’ll be a nice, natural combination like chocolate and peanut butter.” Curtis, whose style has been described by one writer as “somewhere between Hank Williams and David Lee Roth,” is formerly of the Oxford-based rock band Cardinal Fluff.
